I have spent most of my career teaching music at Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina schools. I have been fortunate to live my dream as a teaching and performing musician since 1983. The music profession has allowed me to live in and perform in nine different states and in Taipei, Taiwan.
I received a Bachelor of Music in French horn performance from Northern Illinois University, music education coursework from Ohio State University, and my Master of Arts in music education from Marshall University. It has been a lifelong goal of mine to receive additional education in various aspects of adolescent education. I utilize and have been trained in Level I of the Orff Schulwerk, Level I & II of Feierabend’s Conversational Solfege, and Level I of Music Learning Theory. All three pedagogies are multisensory teaching methodologies and strive to instill curiosity, creativity, and inclusion in my classroom.
Outside school, I enjoy visiting my three adult children and their growing families. I love outdoor activities, including biking, swimming, running, and gardening, and actively play in regional wind ensembles, dinner theaters, and orchestras.
