My Story

As an alum from the Class of 2010, I fully believe in the McLean magic and returned to teach at McLean in 2021 after 4.5 years of teaching in Title I Baltimore County Public Schools. I have a bachelor’s in Education and English from Towson University, with a focus in Special Education. Through McLean’s wonderful professional development programs, I am certified in Positive Classroom Discipline and Responsive Classroom, as well as trained in Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading programs. I am also trained in Restorative Practices and utilize these skills in developing our students’ SEL skills. My specialty is connecting with students and working with them on emotional regulation throughout the learning process. With my degree in English, I work closely with my team to create materials and scaffold projects within Writing groups. I also run the Creative Writing Club, which gives students a space to write and get feedback. I spend summers teaching at McLean’s SummerEdge in the Intensive Reading, Writing, and Math programs.

Working with students has been a consistent interest for me throughout my life, as well as teaching. In college, I often tutored my classmates, and helped them understand the material we learned. I’ve worked as a camp counselor and babysat throughout my youth. While studying to become a teacher, I nannied and often applied concepts I’d learned. My other passions include writing stories, reading fantasy, and singing. When not working or pursuing my passions, I enjoy going to concerts with my husband and playing soccer with my son.
