I have loved numbers, patterns, and logic puzzles since I was a child, so it was no surprise that I eventually became a Math Specialist. On my journey, I studied History and Japanese at the University of Rochester and then received my Master of Science in Elementary Education from Canisius College. My career began as a homeroom teacher, and then an opening became available to be a Math Specialist. There is nothing more exciting than finding new ways to look at relationships between numbers. I have extensive Math in Focus (Singapore Math) training. In fact, my favorite professional development opportunities are Singapore Math Conferences with Ban Har. He is a world-renowned expert in Singapore Math. I leave every conference with new ideas and a renewed energy and excitement for teaching math. I am an active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I have also been trained in Multisensory Mathematics. I am currently taking courses in Instructional Coaching.
When I am not discussing math, I enjoy spending time with my husband, three children, and a variety of pets. I spend my weekends enjoying nature, fusing glass, and relaxing with my family.
