My Story

I received my BA and MA in Art Education from Towson University. As the art and technology teacher for the Middle School, I strive to help students create and achieve their full potential and build confidence in their artwork. I grew up in Maryland my whole life! There are many hidden gems and great things around us to explore and enjoy every day. I love to go out to explore new places I have yet to find, especially with food. I also grew up in an independent school in Baltimore, and am familiar with the expectations and goals and have personal experience of what learning in this environment is like. When I was a student, I had my own struggles with learning and found different accommodations to help me achieve my fullest potential. This is also when I fell in love with art. I believe everyone is an artist. We all express and have different styles that are unique from one another. Art and technology are amazing content that allows students to express themselves in endless ways. This allows students to truly think about the process and meaning of why we are creating and solving art problems. I am here as a guide to help students’ minds grow more creative and confident with each mark they make. A favorite event that the Visual Arts Department holds is the annual Art Showcase. Displaying students’ artwork in a public setting offers recognition and validation of their efforts, which boosts their self-esteem and motivates them to build confidence in their artistic talents. As students participate in an art show, this can enhance their critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving as students plan and execute their projects. I believe these art shows are an essential aspect of a well-rounded education, contributing to the creative, intellectual, emotional, and social development of students.
