I’m a Lower School teacher at McLean School, and empowering young minds is my passion! I am proud to be a part of a learning community I believe in! I hold a Masters of Arts in Teaching and a Virginia teaching license. I have been in the field of education for 14 years and a licensed educator for just under a decade. I have taught kindergarten and grades 1 and 2. My background in working in the social behavioral health field and training in Responsive Classroom principles and practices have allowed me to create positive learning environments that support my students’ academic and social-emotional growth. Each year my classroom is a supportive community of “Busy Bee” learners, whose membership is essential to every day’s success! It is my mission as an educator to develop relationships with students that foster the growth of competent and compassionate contributors to society who have the confidence to apply critical thinking skills to actively engage in and solve commonly shared challenges. My favorite subject is language arts because it is the foundation for students to further their learning in other subject areas. It brings me great joy knowing that I am teaching my students vital skills that will help them better understand the world around them for the rest of their lives. The language arts skills students learn in my class give them a voice to express their ideas and opinions, enabling them to contribute to their community in a more meaningful way.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, tennis, and swimming. I also enjoy painting and going to museums. My favorite color is magenta, and my favorite football team is the New York Giants!
