My family has lived in the DMV for the last 20 years. Although my three sons spent their childhoods in Maryland, we all cherish our visits to my childhood home in South Carolina. Summer days at the beach and walks through the woods are always good for the soul. I graduated from Clemson University and my husband and I lived in South and North Carolina, Washington State, and Virginia before settling in Maryland. After beginning my teaching career in public schools, I spent a number of years at home with my children before returning to teaching ten years ago and finding a home in an independent school.
As a teacher, my highest priority is contributing to an education that prepares children to engage in their communities, invites them to explore the world, and nurtures their sense of self. From the first day a student comes into my space, they should know it is a place where they belong. I’m glad to be part of this impactful community of educators, students, and families.
