I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and have a BA in Educational Studies from Trinity College and an MA in Special Education from American University. Before becoming the K-4 Reading Specialist, I taught grade 2 and grade 4 at McLean. I am passionate about ensuring all students access effective and fun literacy instruction. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing students’ confidence grow on their journeys to become readers. I have extensive Orton-Gillingham training, and I love using this approach to support all students. I am also trained in The Writing Revolution and am completing LETRS training. In addition, I have done several training courses on all aspects of literacy through the AIM Institute for Learning and Research.
I love attending conferences and webinars that share new research and ideas based on the Science of Reading. I always leave these conferences feeling empowered to share ideas with my colleagues so that we can continue to provide our students with strong, evidence-based reading instruction!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I love taking our dog on walks and exploring DC. I am always happy spending time reading, cooking, baking, and rooting for Baltimore sports teams.
