The Science of Reading
Tuesday, November 12
7:00 pm
Did you know that most students, even in the DC Metro area, are not taught how to read? Most teachers in the classroom today were never trained in evidence-based reading instruction (known as the “Science of Reading”). Decades of research show that evidence-based reading instruction changes children’s brains to build the critical connections that make reading possible.
Come learn about the “Science of Reading,” what happens when children don’t get evidence-based, brain-informed reading instruction, and how effective teachers use the Science of Reading to build a “reading brain” for every child.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about how McLean School implements neuropsychologically sound reading instruction. This instruction is not only effective for building students’ word recognition and language comprehension skills, but it also fosters a love of reading and paves the way for long-term high achievement.
